England seamer Mark Wood is set to undergo a scan on his ankle ahead of the second One-Day International against New Zealand that kicks-off at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Wednesday.

The Durham quick already missed the first game in Hamilton which his team went on to lose by three wickets after having soreness in his ankle.

Wood missed the Ashes series against Australia but managed to return to action for the One-Day International series against the same opposition and the Twenty20 International Tri-Series later on that also involved New Zealand.

The 28-year-old has already undergone three operations on his ankle and now will be assessed before the second ODI against the Black Caps.

"It's not a serious concern at the moment," said England captain Eoin Morgan.

"He's picked up a soreness the last couple of days and he wasn't worth the risk today [Sunday].

"We'll see how he's assessed over the next 24 hours to see whether he will participate in the next game or we build a plan as to when he can come back."

New Zealand currently have a 1-0 lead in the five-match series that will culminate on 10th March following which the two teams will face each other in two-Test series to be played in Auckland and Christchurch.
