Marlon Samuels replaces Quinton de Kock for Delhi Daredevils
West Indies batsman Marlon Samuels has been included in the Delhi Daredevils squad for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season as a replacement for South Africa wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock.
De Kock pulled out of the tournament with a finger injury that he sustained during the Test series against New Zealand and in his absence Sam Billings was handled the responsibility of opening the innings along with Sanju Samson.
Samuels, whose bowling action was recently cleared by the International Cricket Council was overlooked in the West Indies squad for the One-Day International and Test series against Pakistan due to lack of form and went unsold in the auction conducted earlier this year after having a base price of INR 100 lakhs.
He has so far played 10 games in the IPL previously spread across two seasons for the now defunct Pune Warriors and has scored 132 runs from it at an average of 14.66.
Overall, Samuels has scored 3757 runs from 149 Twenty20 games in which he has accounted for 68 wickets as well.
Delhi Daredevils are currently languishing at the bottom of the table this season with two wins from six matches.
