Marsa CC 154-4 (Arora 50) beat
Marauders 148-7 (Byrne 61) by six runs
Malta Cricket League, game three

Malta all-rounder Bikram Arora was in the runs again to help Marsa CC move to the top of the Malta Cricket League courtesy of a six-run win over Marauders.

Arora received excellent support once again from Haroon Mughal, who made 40, as Marsa posted 156 for four in their innings.

For Marauders, David Marks and Sean Byrne conceded only 14 runs apiece but it was the wily Tony Slater who took the bowling honours with two for 11. Byrne (61) and Marks (45) were the shining lights in Marauders’ run chase.

Chris Belford (2-27), Haroon Mughal (2-29) and young Ethan Xuereb (2-39) shared the wickets for Marsa who held on to win when Marauders closed on 148 for seven.

A special mention must go to Sid Anand for his tidy spell of one for 19 as his efforts were instrumental in setting up Marsa’s victory.

This weekend Melita face Krishna in what is a must-win clash after both sides lost in the opening round of games.
