Marsh Sheffield Shield: South Australia v Western Australia, Day Four

The West End Redbacks have had their first back-to-back Marsh Sheffield Shield wins and first win at Adelaide Oval since 2020 with their 164-run win over Western Australia on Monday.

South Australia took the eight wickets needed for victory in two sessions, with Nathan McAndrew finishing with four wickets.

West End Redbacks coach Jason Gillespie will be available to media at 1pm tomorrow, Tuesday, February 14, at Adelaide Oval. Please contact Aiden McNicholas (0412 379 214) on arrival. The side will start training at 1:30pm and media are welcome to stay and capture vision.

  • The Redbacks had a perfect start to Day Four, with McAndrew getting Cam Bancroft nicking behind in only the second over of the day.
  • Two more big wickets followed thanks to stunning catches from Ben Manenti in slips and Harry Nielsen behind the stumps – removing Hilton Cartwright and Aaron Hardie.
  • Not long after lunch, McAndrew got another crucial wicket, with a bouncer catching Marcus Stoinis’ glove and flying to slip.
  • After that, wickets tumbled with McAndrew taking his fourth and Wes Agar his second before Brendan Doggett snared the final two to secure a 164-run win.

Both teams will now turn their attention to a shorter format of the game, with the two sides to play in a top-of-the-table Marsh One Day Cup clash at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday.First ball is at 1:35pm ACDT, with gates opening at 12:30pm.
