Martin Guptill ruled out of Hamilton decider
New Zealand opening batsman Martin Guptill has been ruled out of the third and final One-Day International against Australia in Hamilton on Sunday after failing to recover from a hamstring strain.
The 30-year-old was earlier not considered for selection in the rain abandoned second game in Napier as well because of the injury but having continued to experience tightness, he was left out of the squad in the Hamilton game.
Dean Brownlie, who was added as a replacement for Guptill in the second game at McLean Park will continue to remain with the squad for the final game as well.
Guptill scored 61 in the first game in Auckland as Black Caps managed to win the encounter by a slender six-run margin despite a fine all-round performance from Marcus Stoinis.
New Zealand have made one change to the squad with the addition of leg-spinner Ish Sodhi in the place of back-up wicket-keeper Tom Blundell as they bid to reclaim the Chappell-Hadlee trophy after having a 1-0 lead in the series.
