Match Prediction Women's T20 World Cup 2020 5th match - Australia v Sri Lanka
The 5th match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020 between Australia and Sri Lanka will be played at the W.A.C.A. Ground in Perth.
Australia enter the tournament as the prime contenders for the title and probably still remain the front runners despite their a 17-run loss in the opening fixture of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
After the Aussie bowlers got a bit of tap, it was spinner Jess Jonassen who brought them back into the game with two wickets. Although the team did not break through post that a lot but they kept India down to 132 and would have backed themselves to chase the target once opener Alyssa Healey got them of to a flyer with a 35-ball 51.
However, their middle order failed to encounter India's spin and kept losing wickets at regular intervals, ultimately getting bowled out for just 115.
Sri Lanka lost their first match of the tournament against New Zealand by 7 wickets. Batting first, the team got off to a decent start with openers Hasini Perera and Chamari Atapattu adding 60 runs for the first wicket.
There was a decent contribution from Harshitha Madavi in the middle order as well at a run a ball 27 but no other batter from there on could contribute anything with the team managing only 127.
Their bowlers then could not create a big impact with Udeshika Prabodhani and Shashikala Siriwardene being the most impressive as New Zealand chased down the target with more than two overs to spare.
Let's have a look at the playing XI of both teams:
