West Indies won the T20 World Cup title in 2016 but have not been in the best of forms coming into the moment. They were expected to romp home to a win in the first match of the World Cup against Thailand but it was not quite the case.
Their bowlers did a fine job with skipper Stafanie Taylor being the most impressive with figures of 3-13-3 as they restricted Thailand for just 78.
However, it was their batting which was below-par. Lee-Ann Kirby andDeandra Dottin were both dismissed cheaply due to a misunderstanding in running between the wickets.
Stafanie Taylor and wicketkeeper Shemaine Campbelle then had a 50+ partnership to see the team home but the Maroon dressing room would certainly have felt some jitters after being 27-3 at one point.
They will be up against Pakistan who will be without former skipper Sana Mir. The team will be led by Bismah Maroof while Javeria Khan will be their vice-captain.
Maroof was Pakistan's top batter in 2019 and the third-highest across all teams, associates included, in T20I cricket with 459 runs from 14 matches at an average of over 40 and a strike rate of close to 110. Nida Dar is expected to be Pakistan's top wicket-taker.
Let's have a look at the playing XI of both teams:
West Indies - Hayley Matthews, Lee-Ann Kirby, Stafanie Taylor (c), Deandra Dottin, Shemaine Campbelle (wk), Chedean Nation, Chinelle Henry, Aaliyah Alleyne, Anisa Mohammed, Afy Fletcher, Shamilia Connell
