Durham Cricket’s latest England product Matthew Potts has pledged his future to Durham Cricket by signing a two-year contract extension at Seat Unique Riverside, until at least the end of the 2024 season.

23-year-old Potts joined Durham at 9-years-old and has progressed through the pathway and Academy set up going onto make his Durham debut in 2017 against Kent in the County Championship.

Potts, who made his England Test debut in June went onto take 7 wickets in his first appearance in England colours helping England to a 5 wicket win at Lord’s.

His 14 wickets against New Zealand saw him finish as England’s leading wicket taker during their series win against the Black Caps.

The Sunderland, born cricketer has gone onto play all formats for Durham taking 87 Firstclass wickets with a best of 7/40 against Glamorgan earlier this summer, while he has a First-class highest score of 81*.

His 45 white ball appearances for the club has seen him notch 65 wickets with a best of 3/8 at Old Trafford against Lancashire.

Potts said: “I am delighted to sign an extension with Durham and commit a further 2 years to the club. I am looking forward to the future and what the club can achieve over this next period.”

Director of Cricket, Marcus North said: “We are thrilled that Matthew has agreed to extend his contract with us at Durham. He has continued to progress and develop in recent years and that was evident with his England call up earlier this summer.”
