Mehedi Hasan to join Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL
Bangladesh off-spinner Mehedi Hasan is all set to make his debut in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) after he was signed by Trinbago Knight Riders franchise for the upcoming season.
The veteran Australian spinner had a controversial moment during the draft conducted earlier in the year when he was picked in the USD 4,000 bracket when he had kept a base price of USD 70,000 and the CPL organisers had launched an inquiry on the issue.
Meanwhile, Mehedi made his debut for Bangladesh during the Test series against England last year and has soon become a prominent member of all the three formats as seen during their recent tour of Sri Lanka.
The 19-year-old is confident that his involvement in the T20 league in Caribbean will help him become a better player.
"I am really happy to have got this opportunity," Hasan said.
"I will get to play with really good cricketers in that tournament. It will improve my standard of cricket".
Mehedi has so far featured in seven Tests, three One-Day Internationals and a solitary Twenty20 International for Bangladesh in which he snared 39 wickets combined.
He will become the third Bangladesh player to feature in the CPL 2017 edition after Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal.
