Michael Clarke To Delay Departure To West Indies

Australian vice captain Michael Clarke will delay his departure for the tour of West Indies due to personal reasons, Cricket Australia (CA) announced on Friday. A number of web sites claimed Clarke had withdrawn from the tour because of the failing health of his fiancée's father. However, CA said Clarke would join the Australian team at a later, as yet unspecified, date. The remainder of the Australian squad will depart for the West Indies on Saturday. Michael Hussey will take over as vice captain until Clarke arrives, while Brad Hodge, currently playing in the Indian Premier League, will join up with the squad as Clarke's shadow player. Australia play three tests in West Indies, starting on May 22 in Jamaica. © Reuters 2008
