Middlesex Cricket parts with Director of Participation Katie Berry
Middlesex Cricket can today announce that Director of Participation, Katie Berry, is leaving her role with immediate effect after eighteen years at the Club.
Berry initially began her association with Middlesex as a player, representing the county Women’s side between 1995 and 2004, and her first role with the Club saw her coaching in schools as part of Middlesex’s London Schools’ Cricket programme.
She then joined the Middlesex Cricket Board, initially with a remit to drive participation in the Women and Girl’s game, before moving through the ranks to become Head of the Club’s Participation Team, and ultimately Director of Participation and Safeguarding. Berry leaves the role having achieved many successes over the tenure of her time at the Club.
Under Berry’s stewardship, Middlesex Cricket’s Participation Team has received recognition from numerous stakeholders in the game, including both Chance to Shine and Lord’s Taverners, for the delivery of our community programmes and for our focus on developing Disability cricket in the county.
In 2019 the Club’s Participation Team was voted Cricket Board of the Year in Chance to Shine’s annual awards and Berry’s vision to create opportunities for youngsters in the organisation saw her launch Middlesex’s own Apprenticeship scheme, which has created over 25 roles for young adults, and saw the Club awarded the prestigious Investors in People Gold Award in 2021.
Berry’s last involvement at the Club saw her recently sign off on the opening of a new state of the art community cricket centre in Greenford, the Wilf Slack Cricket Centre, at William Perkin School in the borough of Ealing, a project that she had been involved in since its inception seven years ago to its opening just a month or so ago.
On Berry leaving her role at Middlesex Cricket, Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Cornish, said:
“On behalf of all of us at Middlesex Cricket, I would like to pass on my thanks to Katie for all she has done for the Club in almost two decades here, and to congratulate her on everything she achieved in the role over that time.
“She leaves Middlesex Cricket’s Participation Team in a very good place and for that she has our gratitude. We wish her every success in the next chapter of her career.”
Middlesex Cricket will advertise the role for a replacement Director of Participation immediately, with Josh Knappett, current Global Head Coach of the Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy, stepping into the role on an interim basis until a full-time replacement is in place.
