Middlesex registered their second win this season as they chased down 234 in the final innings against Warwickshire with just one wicket in hand in the County Championship Division One clash in Birmingham on the fourth day.

The win has given Middlesex 22 points while Warwickshire gained six points and the two teams are positioned fifth and eighth in the table.

Middlesex started the final day with a score of 36 for two, needing another 198 runs to win. Nick Compton (49) and Dawid Malan (32) added 18 runs to their overnight partnership, with the latter trapped LBW by Keith Barker (2-39).

Compton fell one run short of a half-century but John Simpson (40) and Ryan Higgins (45) kept their hopes alive taking the score to 170 runs.

Despite, losing Simpson, Higgins with support from lower order brought down the required runs to 24 runs before being dismissed but the last wicket pair Tom Helm (12 not out) and Tim Murtagh (5 not out) ensured they crossed the line with just one wicket in hand.
