Mitchell Johnson Ruled Out Of Champions League T20
Kings XI Punjab's campaign in the ongoing Champions League T20 has hit a huge setback with the news that Mitchell Johnson, who is nursing a rib injury, has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament.
After the completion of Australia's One-Day International tri-series in Zimbabwe, Johnson underwent a scan, following which was sidelined for the early phase of the ongoing CLT20 tournament.
Now, Johnson will travel with the rest of the Australian squad to Dubai where he will be continuing his recuperation process.
"Unfortunately Mitchell is not back to 100 per cent fitness so we will not be releasing him to Kings XI Punjab for the remainder of the Champions League, he will travel with the squad to Dubai on Sunday to continue his rehab with the team medical staff," said Australian General Manager of Team Performance, Pat Howard.
This is a third major setback for the Australian squad before the tour begins with Shane Watson already ruled out due to an ankle injury and skipper Michael Clarke racing against time to get fit for the first Test match.
The Australian squad will be flying to the United Arab Emirates on 28th September where they are scheduled to play Pakistan in a lone T20I followed by three ODIs and two Tests.
