Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir will not take part in the third One-Day International against West Indies as he is returning home to be with his mother who is seriously ill.

According to a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Amir has been permitted to return home midway from the ongoing series against West Indies in the United Arab Emirates.

“The team management has allowed Amir to return home to attend to his mother who is seriously ill,” the PCB statement confirmed.

With fast bowlers Rahat Ali and Sohail Khan already in the squad, Pakistan will likely replace Amir with either of the two in the line-up on Wednesday.

In the ongoing ODI series, Pakistan have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series and will look to complete a clean sweep to improve their rankings in the format.

In the International Cricket Council ODI rankings, Pakistan are currently placed ninth and with a win in the third game, they will move up to the eighth spot.
