MS Dhoni has been rested for the first three One-Day Internationals against Sri Lanka and Virat Kohli will lead India in his absence.

The series has been arranged following the West Indies' withdrawal partway through their tour.

It will begin in November with Cuttack, Hyderabad, Ranchi, Kolkata and Ahmedabad hosting the matches.

With a tour of Australia coming up before he will be expected to lead India's World Cup defence, Dhoni has been given some time off.

Wriddhiman Saha will keep wicket and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been recalled after he was rested for the ODI series against the West Indies.

The BCCI also confirmed that India will tour Sri Lanka next summer. Sri Lanka were due to tour India next but India's visit will reciprocate this series.

Manoj Tiwary will lead an India A team to play the touring Sri Lankans in a tour game in Mumbai on 30th October.

That team includes batsman Rohit Sharma, who continues his recovery from a finger injury.
