
MS Dhoni to feature in Help for Heroes fundraiser match
Indian limited overs skipper MS Dhoni, will join various ex-international stars in the inaugural Help for Heroes Twenty20 fundraiser match which will be played at The Kia Oval on 17th September.
Dhoni will feature for the Help for Heroes XI team led by former England captain, Andrew Strauss, with Sir Ian Botham taking up the manager’s role.
The 2011 World Cup winning captain will play alongside Virender Sehwag, Herschelle Gibbs, Damien Martyn, Shahid Afridi, Graeme Swann, Simon Jones, Matthew Hoggard, and Darren Gough.
Dhoni stated that he is delighted with the opportunity while urging the fans to come out and support the Help for Heroes initiative.
“I am delighted to be joining so many cricketing superstars at the Kia Oval on Thursday September 17 and supporting such a worthy cause.
“I’ve always enjoyed playing cricket in England and I would urge all sports fans to support Help for Heroes on September 17 and watch some truly world class performers in action.”
The Help for Heroes XI will take on the Rest of the World team which consists of players like Brendon McCullum, Mahela Jayawardene, Brian Lara and Matthew Hayden.
Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar will manage the Rest of the World side, while Gary Kirsten will be the coach.
Before the fundraiser a T20 match will be held between the Help for Heroes Cricket Club and the England Physical Disability Team.
