Put in to bat first, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored a competitive 171-7 with AB de Villiers 75 and Moeen Ali 50 the mainstays of their batting - Lasith Malinga 4-31 had a great spell bowling late on in the game for Mumbai Indians picking up the wickets of Marcus Stoinis, Moeen Ali, Akshdeep Nath and Pawan Negi.
In reply, Mumbai Indians chased down the runs with an over to spare, scoring 172-5 - Quinton de Kock 40, Hardik Pandya 37* (off 16 balls), Suryakumar Yadav 29 and Rohit Sharma 28 were the main run getters - with an outstanding 19th over display of hitting by Hardik Pandya, who took 21 off the over, to win the match; Moeen Ali 2-18 and Yuzvendra Chahal 2-27 were the pick of the bowlers for Royal Challengers Bangalore, who were again let down by the lack of penetration from their other bowlers.
