Mumbai Indians win last ball thriller against Kings XI Punjab in IPL
Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bowl against Kings XI Punjab at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai today in the IPL.
Kings XI Punjab 197-4 (KL Rahul 100*, Chris Gayle 63; Hardik Pandya 2-57)
Mumbai Indians 198-7 (Kieron Pollard 83; Mohammed Shami 3-21)
Result – Mumbai Indians won by 3 wickets
Kings XI Punjab got off to great start with Gayle (63) and Rahul (100*) putting on 116 for the first wicket, in 12.5 overs. KL Rahul went on to score a brilliant century, taking Kings XI Punjab to 197-4 off their 20 overs. Hardik Pandya 2-57 was the main wicket taker for Mumbai Indians, however, he did get hammered!
In reply, the Mumbai Indians won a thrilling run chase mainly thanks to a brilliant 83 (off 31 balls inc 10x6s and 3x4s) from Kieron Pollard. It was a fantastic piece of hitting from the West Indian all-rounder to get the Mumbai Indians into a position needing 32 from the last 2 overs and he was out in the last over with 4 runs required off 4 balls. Alzarri Joseph was the hero at the end hitting 2 runs to win from the last ball.
