Nathan Lyon wants to be a part in Australia’s plans for the 2023 Men’s World Cup
Nathan Lyon wants to be a part in Australia’s plans for the 2023 Men’s World Cup.
The New South Wales Test spinner is back with the men’s white ball squad on the tour of the UK and is a strong chance of playing his first one-day international in more than a year.
Australia is expected to play Ashton Agar and Adam Zampa in the opening game of the Royal London ODI Series against England in Manchester, but Lyon may get a run in the other two matches.
It’s the first time Lyon has been back to Emirates Old Trafford since Australia retained the Ashes and when he led the team song in the middle of the ground that night.
The last time Lyon played a one-day game for Australia was in the World Cup semi-final against England in Birmingham in July last year.
He is enjoying working with Zampa, who moved to New South Wales to develop his red ball game with Lyon, and Agar who has been a mainstay in the white ball side’s recent success.
The first game of the Royal London ODI Series, part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, starts tonight (Friday).
