The coronavirus crisis has had a huge impact on cricket clubs, causing a delay to the start of the season and a great deal of uncertainty for many. NatWest is today launching the NatWest Club Cricket Finance Guide to help clubs up and down the country to manage their money at this uncertain time. Created in partnership with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the guide provides practical steps to support cricket clubs financially over the next few months, including dealing with the impact of coronavirus as well as tips on how to ensure cricket clubs remain sustainable and thriving for members in the long term.

Martyn Wilson, Head of Sponsorship for NatWest, said:

“At NatWest, we are proud of our history with the game of cricket, having been a partner in the sport for 39 years. We think it’s vital to continue that support now, with grassroot cricket clubs up and down the country facing an uncertain summer - both on the pitch and off. We know many cricket clubs are facing financial challenges, so today we’re launching free online advice and toolkits to help provide financial guidance to get them through the next few months and beyond. We hope the tools will ensure grassroot cricket clubs can continue to thrive and be sustainable, despite the setbacks of lockdown. “

Michael Vaughan, NatWest Cricket Ambassador, said:

“Last year, we had an unparalleled summer of cricket and everyone involved in the sport wants to maintain that momentum to get the next generation involved in the game at a grassroots level. These clubs are maintained by amazing volunteers, and it’s vital that they have access to the expertise they need to keep their clubs going through the current situation.

“I’m delighted that NatWest are today offering financial advice and guidance to support these clubs. It’s so important that we give clubs all the help they need so when the season does start, we’re ready to hit the ground running and build on last year’s excitement.”

Ebony Rainford-Brent, NatWest Cricket Ambassador said:

“Grassroots cricket is fundamental in keeping the game going and continuing to get the younger generations coming through.  It will have been a really difficult time for lots of clubs over the last few months, but there is now a glimmer of hope with the professional season starting up. It’s great that NatWest are providing this financial guidance to clubs to get them going again as we head into the Summer and hopefully the continuation of cricket getting back on its feet again.”
