Third One-Day International, Auckland

The third One-Day International between New Zealand and Sri Lanka was abandoned due to rain after 28.3 overs of play at Eden Park in Auckland.

New Zealand had reached 145 for three when play was called off.

Martin Guptill was not out on 66 and Ross Taylor had just been dismissed for three by Angelo Mathews after the match had already been reduced to 43 overs per side.

Mathews ended with figures of three for 21 having also removed Brendon McCullum (28 in 22 balls) and Tom Latham (42 in 65 balls).

McCullum was caught in the deep by Nuwan Kulasekara, Latham was bowled as he chopped on and Taylor was trapped in front by a ball that nipped in.

He reviewed the decision and after the on-field call was upheld, he, Guptill and the Sri Lankan players left the field as the rain closed in.

The series remains tied at 1-1 with four games now remaining, the next of which is on Monday 19th January.
