England pace spearhead James Anderson has confirmed that Nick Compton will be available for selection for the third Test against South Africa in Johannesburg after recovering from a stomach illness.

In the ongoing Basil D'Oliveira Trophy, Compton has scored 194 runs at an average of 48.50 from the two Tests.

A stomach illness forced the Middlesex batsman out of the net session on Monday, however, he returned back to action on Tuesday, indicating that he will be able to take the field on Thursday for the crucial Third Test against the Proteas.

Confirming the news, Anderson hoped that Compton will be able to recover completely in time for the Johannesburg Test.

"It can take a lot out of you when you get an illness like that," said Anderson.

"Hopefully he will use his time wisely over the next couple of days to get 100 per cent fit for the game."

In the first innings of the first Test, Compton's 135-run stand for the fourth wicket with James Taylor set the tone for England as they lead the series 1-0 with two more games to go.
