Noor Ali, Gurbaz Give Knights Second Consecutive Win
A century partnership between opening pair of Noor Ali Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz ensured Wazirzai Mis-e Ainak Knights secure their second consecutive victory in the ongoing SCL beating Paragon Band-e Amir Dragons by 9 runs.
Mis-e Ainak skipper Mohammad Nabi won the toss and opted to bat first in the fourth match of the tournament at Kabul Cricket Stadium. The opening pair comprised of experienced Noor Ali Zadran and in-form youngster Rahmanullah Gurbaz put on a 134-run stand for the first wicket that was registered as the second-highest partnership in the tournament’s history. Knights lost wickets in quick intervals after the stand was broken, however, a quick 38-run stand between Tariq Stanikzai and Sharafuddin Ashraf took them to post 192/4 in the allotted 20 overs setting a tough chase for the Dragons.
The Dragons, in response, were well in the game as Shawkat Zaman and Javed Ahmadi scored 54 and 41 runs respectively. However, the climbing required run-rate proved a tough task for the Band-e Amir team as they fell short by 9 runs to chase the target losing their second consecutive match of the tournament.
Noor Ali was adjudged Man of the match for his terrific innings of 77 that included 4 sixes and 8 fours.
