Northeast stars as Kent complete clinical win over Somerset

Sam Northeast scored an unbeaten 54 off 27 deliveries as Kent completed a seven wicket win by Duckworth-Lewis method against Somerset in the South Group Natwest T20 Blast clash in Canterbury.
Somerset won the toss and decided to bat first. James Neesham (1-24) provided the early breakthrough when he accounted for Lewis Gregory (1) early.
Steven Davies (62) upped the ante with his 32 ball knock and added 67 runs for the second wicket with Jim Allenby (25). The momentum was carry forwarded by Johann Myburgh (64) but James Hildreth (11) and Peter Trego (26) struggled to get going as Somerset managed 197 for six in the 20 overs.
Mitchell Claydon (1-25) was the pick of the Kent bowlers as he maintained an economy of 6.25 and also picked the wicket of Myburgh.
Joe Denly (46) and Daniel Bell-Drummond (39) gave a perfect start of 82 runs off just 44 deliveries while Northeast (57 not out) led from the front with a strike-rate of 200 as Kent reached the revised target of 181 runs in 16.3 overs with seven wickets in hand.
Somerset and Kent are positioned at fifth and sixth respectively in the table.
