Nottinghamshire’s 2021 County Championship fixtures have been revealed, with Durham providing the opposition at Trent Bridge in the opening round of the season.

Steven Mullaney’s side will return to the field on Thursday 8 April, before welcoming Warwickshire one week later.

Notts will also face Worcestershire, Essex and Derbyshire in their red-ball group, with a midsummer clash between the local rivals taking place at Trent Bridge from Sunday 4 July.

In total, nine of Notts’ 20 matchdays in the opening five rounds of the season will take place on weekends.

At the end of the Group Stage, the top two counties will progress to Division One, with the other counties moving into Divisions Two and Three. All will play a further four matches.

The winner of Division One will be crowned the 2021 County Championship winners, with the top two sides contesting a five-day Bob Willis Trophy final from Tuesday 27 September.

Fixtures for the remaining domestic women’s and men’s white-ball competitions are set to be announced in early 2021.

“Fixture release day is always a special landmark in the winter, but there’s no doubt it’s even more special this year,” said Head Coach Peter Moores.

“The announcement of the fixtures makes everything feel that bit closer and always creates a buzz within the squad.

"I like the fact that we have a good solid block of Championship games at the start of the season, giving us another opportunity to show how we have moved forward as a red ball team”

“We still have work to do, as always, and the task for us now is to keep putting in the work through the winter to make sure we are ready for the type of challenges that every season throws up.”
