IPL 2023, Final, Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans: Rain washes out play, to be played on Monday
After weeks of entertainment and exciting cricket, it was an utter disappointment as final the of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans was washed out due to the heavy rains in Ahmedabad. The outfield at the Narendra Modi Stadium looked like a pond, which in itself defined the condition.
The match was expected to be a blockbuster with around 100,000 people in attendance. But rain gods were against it. The least possibility of having a five-over game was even not there as such was the intensity of the rain. However, to fans' delight, we had a reserve day for the final and the game will be played on Monday (29 May).
The weather conditions for Monday are also not great as a part of rain is expected tomorrow. But the full game will likely be on the offer and we will see who gets the title.
The Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings has been moved to the Reserve Day i.e. Monday - May 29, 2023. Heavy rain at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad forced the postponement of the marquee clash.
As announced by the BCCI, physical tickets from Sunday will be valid for entry on the Reserve Day. Gujarat Titans urge the fans who turned up at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday to retain their tickets for entry on Monday.
“The Tata IPL final is one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the country. In 2022, we clinched the Tata IPL trophy on May 29 in front of our home crowd. The fans were present in large numbers on Sunday and we urge them to turn up on Monday - May 29 yet again to support the Gujarat Titans in our quest for another title victory,” said Arvinder Singh, COO Gujarat Titans.
