One piece of advice...Desmond Haynes on hard work and commitment - Cricket World TV

Work hard, seek knowledge about the game and make a commitment to cricket are the three pieces of advice that Desmond Haynes would pass on to any aspiring young player.

"I think you've got to work hard...I just think that hard work conquers all," he said, talking to us ahead of the Caribbean Premier League 2015.

But as well as hard work, he thinks it is vital that players educate themselves about the game in order to get the most out of it.

"You've also got to make sure that you are a student of the game, you must seek knowledge of the game."

This education should be part of a commitment to cricket which can help deliver results.

"At the end of the day you must be committed to the sport and that is how you are going to get results," he added.

"All the great players were committed to the sport."

Haynes played 116 Tests and 238 One-Day Internationals for West Indies, winning the World Cup in 1979.

After representing Barbados, Middlesex, Scotland, and Western Province during his playing career, he now works with Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League.
