One piece of advice...Ravi Rampaul on working hard - Cricket World TV
West Indies and Barbados Tridents fast bowler Ravi Rampaul is the latest cricketer to pass on some words of advice and he stresses the importance of working hard in all three disciplines of the game - batting, bowling and fielding.
Rampaul has played 18 Tests, 90 One-Day Internationals and 22 Twenty20 Internationals, helping the Caribbean side win the Twenty20 World Cup in 2012.
He has also tasted success in the Caribbean Premier League with Barbados Tridents and represented Royal Challengers Bangalore and Ireland as an overseas player.
However, he admits that if he had his time over again, he might have done things differently.
"I would say hard work," he said when we asked him what he would advise young players just starting out in the game.
"When I started my career I had a lot of injuries and now that I'm fitter now, I know that if I had put in a little more hard work into my cricket I could have played for a longer period of time," he added.
"I would have been injured less. Now I'm more experienced, I know that now."
He also said that it is important to work hard at a young age to build a solid foundation for your future in the game.
"When you're young, you don't know what you are going to come up against, how hard it is going to be until you are a little older.
"Then you appreciate 'I should have worked harder' so I would say hard work in all disciplines in cricket - batting, bowling, fielding."
Rampaul was speaking to us during the build-up to the Caribbean Premier League 2015, where he helped Barbados Tridents reach the final.
