The way India lost the first ODI by 34 runs left a lot of people surprised and this was when the Aussies failed to capitalise on the start that got and actually scored 30 runs short of what they could have.

India's bowling did not seem to have the spark at Sydney. The fact that they were up against an Australian batting lineup which does not have too many big hitters as the middle order includes Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh and Peter handscomb saw them restrict the score to under 300 otherwise this set of bowlers can come into a lot of trouble against a batting lineup that is proactive.

The Australian openers - Aaron Finch and Alex Carey could have shown a bit more application as runs were there for the taking if they had decided to give themselves some more time. Usman Khawaja and Shaun Marsh played well but they could not capitalise after scoring half-centuries. Marcus Stoinis was a bit slow to get off the blocks and Glenn Maxwell didn't get enough deliveries to work his magic.

The bowlers, particularly Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff, were impressive. Peter Siddle, who was making a comeback in the side after a record eight years was also on the money.

The absence of Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, for different reasons, curtailed India's resources seriously. Although India would like to make a few changes, they are likely to go with the same playing XI as the backup players are not that skillful. That being said, they might be tempted to try Mohammad Siraj in place of Khaleel Ahmed and Yuzvendra Chahal in place of Ravindra Jadeja if the pitch is flatter at Adelaide.

Let's have a look at the predicted playing XI of both teams.

India- Virat Kohli(c), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammad Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Siraj

Australia- Aaron Finch(c), Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey (wk), Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendorff, Peter Siddle, Nathan Lyon
