The 2nd Test of the three-match series between India and South Africa will be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

It was a real grind for South Africa in the opening match of the Test series at Visakhapatnam. They will now face India in the the second Test in Pune in conditions that might suit them a little bit more.

Although the Pune surface turned square in the last Test that was played their between India and Australia, the venue received a demerit point because of that and hence it is likely to be flatter. In the IPL, the Pune pitch often has something for the quicker bowlers and the ball wobbles around a bit to begin with. With the red ball, that effect is expected to be escalated.

South Africa would look to include one more pacer in their ranks, preferably Lungi Ngidi, in place of either Dane Peidt or Senuran Muthusamy. Interestingly, both performed well with the bat in the last game but the Proteas will look to strengthen their bowling attack.

Theunis de Bruyn is struggling at one drop and either Zubair Hamza or Rassie van der Dussen is likely to take his place.

For India, too many changes are not expected. The only swap that can be considered is between Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav. Ishant did not create an impact in the last game and Umesh, with his extra pace, is most suited to low and slow Indian pitches. With the reverse swing he extracts, Umesh can form a deadly combination with Ashwin, Jadeja and Shami.

Let's have a look at the probable playing XI of both teams:

India- Virat Kohli (c), Mayank Agarwal, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (vc), Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wk), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav

South Africa- Faf du Plessis (c), Temba Bavuma (vc), Zubayr Hamza/Rassie van der Dussen, Quinton de Kock (wk), Dean Elgar, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, Senuran Muthusamy, Lungi Ngidi, Vernon Philander, Kagiso Rabada
