Zimbabwe could only add 46 runs to their overnight score. Apart from Peter Moor, Zimbabwe's batsmen kept departing one after the other. The first to be outfoxed was Regis Chakabva. After his dismissal, Taijul Islam did not take too long in cleaning up Zimbabwe's lower order. Islam ended with a six-fer. However, Kyle Jarvis and Tendai Chatara more than made up for the batting collapse as they made the new ball talk. The old-timers would be reminded of Heath Streak with the manner in which both bowlers bowled.
For Bangladesh, the absence of their experienced players in Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal was clearly visible. Mohammadullah was also dismisseded for a duck. Apart from Mushfiqur Rahim (31), Ariful Haque (41) and Mehidy Hasan (21), there was almost no contribution from the other Bangladesh batsman. As a result, as soon as Rahim was dismissed, the entire batting fell like a pack of cards.
Sikandar Raza and Tendai Chatara bagged two wickets each. Zimbabwe batsmen also survived a tricky period of two overs just before the close of play. The light then started to deteriorate and play could be carried no further. On day three, even a second innings score of 200 from Zimbabwe could mean curtains for Bangladesh.
