Both India and New Zealand are coming off successful series against Australia and Sri Lanka respectively. Both were expected to win, as they did, but now is the time for the real test.

Despite winning the ODI series 2-1, India have not been at their best. Shikhar Dhawan has failed to go big, while Ambati Rayudu lost his spot in the last match.

As far as the bowling is concerned, in the absence of all-rounder Hardik Pandya, the combination is looking a bit lopsided. The team is not able to decide on playing Yuzvendra Chahal due to the absence of an extra batsman.

However, the way Chahal bagged a sixfer in the third ODI against Australia, it would be very difficult to drop him. Hence, Dinesh Karthik may have to sacrifice his spot for Kedar Jadhav. Jadhav gives an extra bowling option as well. India can then play Chahal in place of Ravindra Jadeja. The leggie can pair up with Kuldeep Yadav to give India some success in the middle overs.

New Zealand openers Colin Munro and Martin Guptill had one good knock each in the ODI series against Sri Lanka and they will be trying to stamp their authority early on. The middle order consists of Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor. Tom Latham will also join them.

If the team decides to go with two spinners, Mitchell Santner will make a comeback while Ish Sodhi will be the other spinner. Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson will start the proceedings for the Kiwis with the new ball.

Both teams would love to play two spinners due to the fact that modern batting line-ups struggle to score against them. However, the only problem would be that clearing the small boundaries would be a lot easier and even mishits can go into the second tier. Also, the pitches in New Zealand would be extremely flat for the ODIs and the fans would be treated to run fests.

Let's have a look at the predicted playing XI of both teams.

New Zealand- Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult, Doug Bracewell

India- Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammad Siraj
