Opening Batsman Nazimuddin Ruled Out Of Tour

Opening batsman Nazimuddin has been ruled out of Bangladesh's tour of Australia with a finger injury, according to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). "Nazim has torn one of the tendons on his left ring finger during the pre-match warm up of the practice game against the Australian Institute of Sports in Darwin today," it said in a statement. "The injury would require six to eight weeks of immobilization in a splint," it said. A replacement will be sent out for the 23-year-old, who only took his place in the squad when Shahriar Nafees pulled out of the tour to take exams. Nazimuddin has made 90 runs in seven One Day Internationals. The first ODI against Australia is on August 30th in Darwin. © Cricket World 2008
