Tour game, Cairns, day three

After setting a 311 runs target on day three, the Pakistan bowling unit led by Mohammad Nawaz bundled out Cricket Australia XI in 27.3 overs to complete a dominant 201 runs victory at Cairns on Saturday.

The overnight batting pair of Sarfraz Ahmed (20) and Azhar Ali (82 no) resumed proceedings by playing steady and negotiating the first half an hour before Lees managed to dismiss Ahmed.

Nawaz (36 no) joined Ali for the seventh wicket partnership as the duo added 58 runs to the tally before skipper Misbah-ul-Haq made the declaration with 76 overs remaining in the day.

Rahat Ali (2-19) and Mohammad Amir (2-18) got rid of the top order as the hosts lost five wickets in 12 overs after scoring just 42 runs on the board.

Mohammad Nawaz (3-31), Wahab Riaz (1-34) and Azhar Ali (1-1) wrapped up the rest of the six wickets as Cricket Australia XI only managed to score 109 while succumbing to a heavy defeat.

This exceptional performance by Pakistan's bowling unit should definitely encourage the visitors as they head for Brisbane for the first out of the three Test match series against Australia starting on December 15th.
