Pakistan U19 190-7 (Zaryab 74no) beat
South Africa U19 189-9 (Makwetu 60) by three wickets
Quarter-final, ICC Under 19 World Cup, 2018
Ali Zaryab scored a decisive unbeaten 74-run knock as he helped Pakistan reach the semi-final of the ICC U19 World Cup as they chased down 190 runs in the 48th over with three wickets in hand against South Africa.
Chasing 190, Muhammad Zaid Alam (15) and Rohail Nazir (23) started briskly but quick wickets meant, Pakistan were reduced to 63 for three in the first 15 overs.
Zaryab (74 not out) held one end up and he shared a 65 run vital stand with Saad Khan (26) as they inched closer to South Africa's total.
Unwilling to relent up, South Africa did managed to remove Khan and Muhammad Musa (0) in successive overs but Zaryab played a calm knock and helped Pakistan complete the chase with 15 deliveries and three wickets in hand.
Earlier, South Africa were troubled by Musa (3-29) and Shaheen Afridi (2-30) but Wandile Makwetu (60) with his 65-ball knock helped them recover and post 189 for nine in the 50 overs.
Pakistan will now play the second semi-final in Christchurch on 30th January.
