Pakistan have trimmed their squad to take on South Africa in the opening Test to 12 men but will add three more players later this month.
Those selected in the Pakistan 'A' side to take on the South Africans in a tour game have a chance to impress and claim their places in the squad ahead of the opening Test, which begins on 14th October in Abu Dhabi.
Opening batsman Mohammad Hafeez has been left out of the squad and Khurram Manzoor the only specialist opener selected.
The experienced pair of Misbah-ul-Haq and Younus Khan are joined by specialist batsmen Azhar Ali and Umar Amin, who captains the 'A' team, while the likes of Asad Shafiq and Faisal Iqbal must impress during the tour game if they are to feature.
Uncapped left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar joins Abdur Rehman and Saeed Ajmal among the slow bowlers while Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan and Rahat Ali make up the fast bowlers.
Adnan Akmal is preferred to Sarfraz Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan as the wicket-keeper, although one of those may be one of the three added to the squad.
