Pakistan are in Sri Lanka for a 2-match Test series (16 to 28 July) which is vital for their World Test Championship fortunes.
FIXTURES AND RESULTS
Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka have last played World Test Championship table toppers Australia and results haven't gone in their favour.
Australia are leading the charts in the current cycle of the World Test Championship with 84 points - 77.78 PCT. South Africa are at the second spot with 60 points - 71.43 PCT. Pakistan are at the third place with 44 points - 52.38 PCT.
Babar Azam's men will have an opportunity to keep their chances alive of making it to the World Test Championship final if they win both their matches against the hosts.
Given the kind of pitches Sri Lanka have produced in recent times, Pakistan have bolstered their spin attack. Yasir Shah is fit and available and the 36-year-old leg spinner has been picked in Pakistan's 18-player squad for the upcoming series.
Spin bowling all-rounders Mohammad Nawaz, who was sidelined from the squad against Australia due to injury, and the uncapped Salman Ali Agha have also made the cut.
The two-match Test series will be played from 16 to 28 July, 2022.
