Pakistan's Naseem Shah speaks with the media | Player Interview

Pakistan's Naseem Shah speaks with the media.

Key points:

  • It has been very tough with no cricket in almost 4 months now.
  • We are all very excited about England tour
  • In the covid-19 lockdown, we could focus more on training but no playing.
  • No saliva rules by ICC will need to be followed.
  • Hope England take me lightly as a 17-year old which will work to my advantage.
  • I don't target a batsman because that could mean me just taking one wicket - five-wicket haul is what all bowlers aim for and that could be batsman from any position. Taking wickets and winning is our focus.
  • Wasim-Waqar pairing was great and now with Shaheen Afridi, a year older than me, we have played together and look forward to bowling together for a long time to come. Very exciting for us and Pakistan. We discuss and share our tactics and that helps us and our team.
  • I have no experience of England except watching videos of Stuart Broad and James Anderson so I will be very keen to see how West Indies bowlers manage the ball in the Test series before us.
  • Although England conditions will require to bowl full;er but I always see speed my main weapon and then control of line and length as well.
  • Listening to former greats through on-line lectures arranged by PCB were very useful.
  • Playing and performing in all three formats can mean more injuries but my workload will be managed by our bowling coach Waqar Younis and PCB.
  • Wasim Waqar faced injuries too and were always prepared to fight and make comeback.
  • Experts say my bowling action puts too much stress on my back and makes me more injury prone compared to Shaheen or Hasnain. I agree with them but this action comes natural to me and I cant compromise too much.
