Paralympians get behind Lord's Taverners Youth Sports Awards

Mickey Bushell MBE (wheelchair racing), David Clark (football) and Giles Long MBE (swimming) have joined the expert judging panel that will decide the inaugural winners of the Lord's Taverners Sporting Chance Awards next month.

The Lord's Taverners, the UK's leading youth cricket and disability sports charity launched the awards earlier this year to celebrate the achievements of young people in disability and mainstream sports as well as the contributions of individuals, clubs and programmes that enable young people to enjoy sport.

And they have also enlisted the help of former England captain Sir Ian Botham who is urging parents, coaches and teachers to nominate young people - and those who help them enjoy sporting opportunities - for the awards - watch his video below.

There are seven awards categories spanning individuals, teams, clubs and programmes:

  • Junior of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • Sports Club of the Year
  • Programme of the Year
  • Greatest Personal Development
  • Service to Sport
  • Lifetime Contribution

Nominations must be made by 14th August at www.lordstaverners.org/sportingchanceawards and the awards ceremony and lunch will be held on 11th September at Mansion House in London.
