Pencarrow Cricket Club
An idyllic estate ground in East Cornwall, the PCG is one of the oldest and most picturesque cricketing venues in Cornwall.
Having been one of the first cricket clubs formed in Cornwall, Pencarrow built a strong side comprised mostly of the estate workforce. Pencarrow followed a trio of Wadebridge District League titles with entry into the fledgling Cornwall Cricket League in 1929.
The club is very much a rural, community based outfit. Our appeal is definitely the ground and setting, which we are investing in each year.
We are ambitious and have been working through a five year plan to improve, grow and sustain our club. We have had some recent success attracting new players, improving our league position and obtaining funding for grounds equipment. Ultimately the plan is to establish two sides, with a thriving youth section and replace our old pavilion with something more fitting.
Our senior side play in Division 3 East of the Cornwall Cricket League, we also have a Midweek XI who play in the Newlyn East twenty over league. In 2014 we are investing in additional coaching staff and are looking to establish a link with the local college. In the meantime we continue to promote our club in an effort to expand our player and volunteer base.
We are looking to attract players of all ages and abilities as well as volunteers and supporters who would all receive a very warm Pencarrow welcome!
We run our training sessions on Tuesday evenings at Pencarrow Cricket Ground from 5.30pm. These sessions are open to all.
