Despite inclement Sydney weather, the Scorchers have completed a full week of training and are raring to go for this weekend’s rebel Women’s Big Bash League fixtures.

Perth will take on the Melbourne Renegades on Saturday and the Adelaide Strikers on Sunday, both at Drummoyne Oval in Sydney’s inner-west.

Sunday’s match against the Strikers will be played for the Faith Thomas Cup, a tradition established in WBBL|03.

The trophy, competed for whenever the Strikers play a home match against the Scorchers, is named after Faith Thomas, the first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cricketer to represent Australia.

Players from both sides will form a Barefoot Circle before the match to acknowledge and pay respects to all the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The act also shows a commitment to reconciliation and working together toward a connected country.
