Peshawar Zalmi were put under all sort of pressure during the chase after they dismissed Lahore Qalandars for just 59 runs but eventually they managed to get past the line with three wickets in hand during the sixth match of Pakistan Super League in Dubai.
Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and opted to field first. With Chris Jordan (2-8) and Hasan Ali (3-23) striking at regular intervals, Lahore Qalandars were in deep trouble at 27 for four in 3.3 overs.
Fakhar Zaman (33) was brilliant during his 19-ball knock and remains the top-scorer in the game while Mohammad Rizwan (11) is the only other player in the innings to cross the double figure mark as Lahore Qalandars were bowled out for 59.
Jordan and Hasan were the pick of the Peshawar bowlers sharing five wickets between them while the rest picked a wicket apiece.
In the chase, Peshawar Zalmi lost Mohammad Hafeez (3), Dawid Malan (1) and Kamran Akmal (3) and were reduced to 24 for three.
Eoin Morgan (23) and Shahid Afridi (13) tried to resurrect the innings but Yasir Shah (4-7) and Sunil Narine (2-16) made it tough for the batsmen. Eventually they managed to reach the target in 17 overs with seven wickets in hand with Jordan (3 not out) and Wahab Riaz (5 not out) at the crease.
Shah was awarded the player of the match despite ending on the losing side.
