Phil Tufnell Teams Up With Currys PC World and Samsung for Cricket Pub Makeover
Today, Currys PC World, in partnership with Samsung, announces the winner of its nationwide search for the best cricket-related pub in the UK to win the ultimate tech makeover.
Enlisting the help of former cricketing legend Phil Tufnell, the Sussex Cricketer in Hove was selected as the winner where local cricket fans will get the ultimate viewing experience through the top of the range televisions and soundbars from Samsung to catch the cricket this summer.
After a phenomenal number of entries from across the UK, Phil Tufnell was chief selector to pick the Sussex Cricketer as the winner of a new Samsung QLED 8K (Q950R) TV, a QLED 4K (Q90R) TV and two Samsung Q-series Soundbars bringing to life all the sporting action in vibrant colours and ultra-high definition.
The local Brighton watering hole was filled with locals yesterday joined by General Manager Dave Ormerod and Phil Tufnell to celebrate the win ahead of England’s first match against South Africa, kicking off the summer of cricket.
Upon selecting the winning pub, Phil Tufnell said: “The Sussex Cricketer really stood out and reminds me of my local. It was a pleasure to open the newly kitted out pub, courtesy of Currys PC World and Samsung. It has the comradery and the authenticity of a great British pub and the ultimate tech to watch an exciting summer of cricket.”
Henrik Schmidt, Head of Category for TV & Imaging at Currys PC World, said: “Watching sports in the pub is enjoyed by many with two thirds of people agreeing it is one of their favourite venues to watch sport, whether your team wins, loses or you’re just there for the atmosphere. We wanted a find a pub that was quintessentially British, a pub that needed a technology facelift and teaming up with Samsung for this competition felt like the perfect partnership. For anyone looking to recreate this experience in the comfort of their own home, Currys PC World has a fantastic range of televisions and amazing technology suiting all budgets to bring to life sporting action, movies and much more.”
Guy Kinnell, Vice President TV/AV, Samsung Electronics UK, added: ”Sport is all about making memories – everyone can remember a huge sporting moment that they have witnessed. We want to help enhance the next sporting memories with state-of-the-art technology, bringing the matches to life with the purest picture quality.
“The results speak for themselves, showing how much of a role the latest Samsung technology can play in making these moments even more spectacular. Nothing can compare the energy and atmosphere in a local pub when watching a nail-biting match and at Samsung we aim to give fans the best possible TV experience
