Plans Move Forward For Essex Ground Development

The Planning Committee of Chelmsford Borough Council gave a conditional approval on the Planning Application submitted by Essex County Cricket Club and their development partners, MCD Developments, for The Ford County Ground at a meeting held at the Civic Centre on Tuesday evening (September 30). This approval is subject to the resolution of the section 106 agreement and sign-off from the Environment Agency over the flood plane issue for the Chelmsford site. Essex County Cricket Club Chief Executive David East said: "This is a huge step forward as it confirms the council commitment to the project going ahead. "The power to grant permission has been delegated to the Director of Planning and the application will not need to revert back to the Planning Committee provided these outstanding matters can be resolved to his satisfaction. "We do not believe that working up the details of the section 106 contribution will cause any great difficulty as the principles have been agreed by the planning committee. Our team is currently working to set up an urgent meeting with the Environment Agency to bring this matter to a conclusion." © Essex CCC
