Play With A Cricket Legend: a chance to play with current and former professionals

Cricket fans in the UK are being given the opportunity to play with current and former professionals as part of a Play With A Cricket Legend package offered by specialist events company

As part of a stag-do, or even a company event, cricket lovers will be able to play alongside players including Geraint Jones, Matthew Hoggard, Ryan Sidebottom and Darren Gough.

Working in partnership with the Professional Cricketers' Association, supporters can choose the players they want to appear at their event, select from a number of different venues, and choose the format of their event.

Which legends are available?

Players: Paul Nixon, Anthony McGrath, Ryan Sidebottom, Alex Tudor, Devon Malcolm, Dean Headley, John Emburey, Shaun Udal, Phil DeFreitas, Andy Caddick, Geraint Jones, Stephen Harmison, Simon Jones, Marcus Trescothick, Matthew Hoggard, Gladstone Small, Mark Ramprakash, Graham Thorpe, Jonathan Trott, Darren Gough

Coaches: Mike Gatting, Graham Gooch, Alec Stewart

Indoor and outdoor Twenty20 matches are available as well as batting or bowling masterclasses and more than 20 cricketers are involved - and more are set to join.

Those taking part just need to turn up as everything is arrange for them, from the venue to umpires to the pub afterwards. Packages start from £60 per person and costs vary depending on how many people attend, which stars are booked and the venue.

Play With A Cricket Legend has been launched following the success of Play With A Football Legend and Mike Chidzey, Chillisauce spokesperson, says it was the obvious next sport to go for.

"We’re really excited to be promoting Play With A Cricket Legend and it just feels like the natural step forward after Play With A Legend Football was so successful," he said.

"We had such a great reaction from the public, with people so excited about the opportunity to play with their football heroes.

"It's great that cricket stars can play, share stories and even grab a drink with fans after these events.

"It’s also fantastic for the fans to share their own cricket memories and also play with the heroes they watched on TV."

Former England international Devon Malcolm, one of the many players already signed up, added:

"Since I retired, I love the game too much to pack up so I’m still involved and play quite a few games.

"Play With A Legend is a great initiative which I think will work really well with so many legends being involved.

"It’s great because although I stopped playing first-class and international cricket years ago, I still meet people who remember performances from way back, so it’s good to be closer to some of your fans.

"It’s fantastic to play a bit of cricket, tell some of the good old stories and have a beer.

"The dressing room camaraderie is one of the main things I miss about playing cricket, so these kind of events really give me a taste of it again."
