At the AGM the Committee unanimously agreed that changes were required and supported the proposal put forward by the 2 Secretaries Dave Fraser-Darling and Paul Sims to introduce 4 Regional Leagues.

This will produce 4 semi finalists who will respectively play for the Cup and Giffard Plate in 2 Finals.

The new Competition will now be called The National Championship.

It will continue to be sponsored by Police Credit Union who will be in their 10th year if supporting Police Cricket which was confirmed by CEO Paul Norgrove at the post match dinner of this years Final.

PSNI will be allocated a different league each year in order to share costs by other Forces who have to play in Belfast.

With the ever increasing demands on individual Forces to commit to the competition we have encouraged more joint entries and even some Regional teams.

2019 will see Cheshire/Merseyside & Lancashire play as the North West Alliance
Leicestershire/Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire will play as the East Midlands Alliance
West Mids/Mercia and Warwicks will be the West Midlands Alliance.
We welcome the return of Humberside and Lincolnshire as a joint team
Dorset are joining Devon & Cornwall
Gloucestershire have rejoined (after a couple of years absence) and will be aided by Wiltshire.
Avon & Somerset, Thames Valley and Hertfordshire are showing renewed interest as well.

This is an exciting time for Police Cricket and we hope 2019 brings success in the newly formed National Championship, British Police CC plus the introduction of a Ladies Team
