Pollard hits two sixes in two balls to keep Karachi Kings alive

Kieron Pollard played a blistering 45-run knock including two sixes off the final two deliveries as Karachi Kings stay in contention for play-offs after a thrilling five-wicket victory against Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League in Dubai.
Karachi Kings decided to field first on winning the toss. In the very first over, Mohammad Amir (1-30) had Cameron Delport (3) caught behind.
Fakhar Zaman (19) and Brendon McCullum (31) smashed four boundaries and a six in the next four overs but the former was dismissed in the final over of the powerplay by Sohail Khan (1-28).
McCullum continued the onslaught and had the support of Umar Akmal (20) as the duo added 31 runs for the third wicket which came off 27 deliveries.
Double strikes from Usama Mir (2-38) and Shoaib Malik (2-21) dented the Lahore innings as they were reduced for 100 for six but Mohammad Rizwan (32 not out) and Sohail Tanvir (22 not out) provided late flourish to take the total to 155 for six in the 20 overs.
In reply, Karachi Kings lost Mahela Jayawardene (10) early. Kumar Sangakkara (20) and Babar Azam (49) tried to resurrect the innings with a 53-run stand which came at almost run a ball and they succumbed to the pressure with the required run rate climbing leading to the dismissal of the duo along with Malik (6) and Ravi Bopara (2).
Karachi Kings needed 48 runs off the final four overs when Pollard (45 not out) came to bat. With two sixes and a four, Pollard brought down the required runs to 14 off the final over.
Despite managing just four runs off the first four deliveries, the big man from Caribbean smashed Aamer Yamin (0-39) for two sixes in the final two balls to seal the win for Karachi Kings. Pollard was also named the man of the match.
