Australian captain Ricky Ponting will miss the first One-Day International against Sri Lanka to attend the funeral of his grandmother in Launceston.
Michael Clarke will lead the side in his absence at Melbourne on Wednesday 3rd November.
"I will be flying out tomorrow morning to attend the funeral and then flying straight back to the ground tomorrow afternoon," Ponting said.
"I wanted to be here yesterday and today to maximise my time around the team and get my preparation right for the coming games."
Australia are looking to bounce back following a seven-wicket defeat in the one-off Twenty20 International on Sunday (31st October).
