Quetta Gladiators opt for Jofra Archer as replacement for Carlos Brathwaite
Quetta Gladiators have confirmed Sussex all-rounder Jofra Archer as a replacement for West Indies' Carlos Brathwaite for the upcoming Pakistan Super League season in the draft conducted in Lahore on Monday.
The decision follows after Brathwaite has decided to represent West Indies in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2018 in Zimbabwe along with Chris Gayle in contrary to Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell, who have opted for the Pakistan Super League.
Archer, who attracted a USD 1.125 million bid from the Rajasthan Royals in the recently concluded Indian Premier League Auction has been part of the Bangladesh Premier League and the Big Bash League as well.
Meanwhile, Karachi Kings have named England pace bowler Tymal Mills as replacement for Mitchell Johnson, who has opted out of the tournament for personal reasons
Luke Wright, Angelo Mathews and Colin Munro are the other players, who were picked in the original draft but will be unavailable to play in the tournament for different reasons.
Wright has injury concerns and Karachi Kings has replaced him with Joe Denly while Mathews was denied a NOC by the Sri Lanka Cricket forcing Lahore Qalandars to select Anton Devcich.
The 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League will kick-off on 22nd February with the final scheduled to be played in Karachi on 25th March.
