Quetta hold-on to their nerves to win final-over thriller
Quetta Gladiators 156-8 (Rossouw 27) beat
Multan Sultans 152-5 (Malik 65, Gul 6-24) by two wickets
17th Match, Pakistan Super League, Dubai
Quetta Gladiators managed to hold-on to their nerves to win a final over thriller in Dubai on Wednesday evening to beat Multan Sultans by two wickets in the 17th game of the Pakistan Super League.
Chasing a target of 153 runs, none of the Quetta batsman managed to prolong their innings despite getting decent starts. Rilee Rossouw (27) top scored for his side as Shane Watson (26), Rameez Raja (22) and Asad Shafiq (20) chipped in with handy contributions.
Umar Gul's sixfer proved insufficient as Hasan Khan (9 not out) and Ben Laughlin (3 not out) managed to score 12 runs in the final over against Kieron Pollard and won the game with a ball to spare.
In the first innings of the match, Multan skipper Shoaib Malik led from the front with a nifty 65 runs knock from 43 balls to help his side to a decent target. Sohaib Maqsood (27) was the next highest run scorer for Multan as the rest of the batting line-up failed to do anything impressive.
Mohammad Nawaz (1-18) was the most impressive with the ball for Quetta.
Umar Gul was awarded the man-of-the-match award for his efforts in the losing cause.
